Meet Our Doctors

Alessandro Villa, DDS, PhD, MPH

Dr. Alessandro Villa, is the President of Oral Medicine Associates, PA and Chief of Oral Medicine, Oral Oncology and Dentistry at the Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Villa specializes in treating oral mucosal and salivary gland diseases, oral precancers and oral complications from cancer treatment. He also serves as a Professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University. 

Prior to coming to Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, Dr. Villa was an Associate Clinical Professor of oral medicine and otolaryngology at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He also directed the oral medicine residency programs  and oral oncology fellowships at UCSF and Harvard.

Dr. Villa’s research focuses on oral dysplasia, and oral complications from cancer therapy. He works closely with several organizations to reduce the burden of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) related cancers.  Dr. Villa has authored more that 100 peer-reviewed articles published in medical and dental journals and several book chapters. 

He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Oral Medicine, Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer/International Society of Oral Oncology and the Florida Dental Association.

When not in the clinic or with the students and residents, Dr. Villa likes to ski, play the piano and explore new places with family and friends.
